Reason in the light of faith?

A courageous decision as it became more and more a collection of unrealistic stories according to what science has discovered in the last 200 years.
Courageous but dangerous: how to prove that there are no other mistakes? Now suspicion is there.
Several contradictions or unclear statements have already be pointed out and would need similar comments from Roman Catholic Church as well.
But in fact these books are for believers only, because they mainly contain theological points of view which need faith to be accepted.
Faith concept is very important for Christians (faith is the absence of reason). John Paul II has even tried to convince people that we should use “reason in the light of faith”.
John Paul II knew that reason alone is most probably the main ennemy of Christians. All the progress in science using only reason without faith should kill religions. According to Jean Paul II and his successor Benoît XVI, reason should only explore ways which are compatible with faith.
John Paul II was most probably right to be afraid by a “free” reason, a reason without any limit. The “free” science has made tremendous progresses in the last centuries and should help us step by step to get a better understanding of our world.
As a consequence, nowadays, more and more people wander if we still need religions.
And people understand more and more that science and religion are not compatible:
“In science, it is a cardinal sin to pretend to know something that you do not know. Such a behaviour is necessary with religious faith.” (Sam Harris)
